Mod Madness: Resident Evil 3 (2020) Mods
I did say last time that I'd end up talking about mods a lot, and here we are again. This time, rather than talking about custom boards, we're talking about Resident Evil 3. Specifically, I'm going to talk about some of the fun ways you can change up the game with various character mods! There's simply too many for me to go over every one, but I'll try to cover a decent amount here.
Most of these will be character mods that change the appearance of Jill, Carlos, or others around, but there are other kinds out there too. I said last time that mods really bring out the creativity in folks, and it's not a different case here, so let's dive on into some Resident Evil 3 mods.
Aerith Gainsborough
This is a character mod for Jill Valentine. None of the dialogue will be affected but Jill's model will change. Using Final Fantasy VII Remake as a base, this mod brings Aerith into the world of zombies. This mod goes further than just being Jill wearing Aerith's outfit, and also changes her face model and includes the new hair as well. It may not affect much gameplay wise, put having the loving and sweet Aerith blasting zombies is definitely good for a laugh and it provides a new way to experience the trip through Resident Evil.
The Last of Us 2 Ellie
A second Character mod for Jill, this one actually provides two different costumes. Included in this mod are Ellie's Seattle and Winter costumes. The Seattle costume features Ellie in shorter sleeves and a light jacket, while the Winter one has her more bundled up in a heavier jacket. Ellie fits pretty well in the game's world, considering that she comes from a game with a post apocalyptic world as well. The model for Ellie also works well within the engine and doesn't look as out of place as some other mods might.
Dino Evil 3
Deviating from character mods for a moment, we come across this mod that changes a bit of the game. Taking inspiration from Capcom's Dino Crisis, new foes arrive in Raccoon City in the form of Dinosaurs. Pairing this with the Regina character mod feels like a whole new Dino Crisis game came roaring out, only this time, there are zombies too. This is a fun one because the Dinos do provide a bit of a tougher challenge than most of the undead foes will, so this is definitely worth a check if you're up for a challenge.
Street Fighter V Sagat
We pause our journey for now with one last mod, this time for Nemesis! This mod's title spells it all out plainly, since it replaces Nemesis' phase 1 model with Classic Sagat from Street Fighter V. It will definitely look off when Sagat starts summoning tentacles and using a rocket launcher, but if one pretends the rockets are Tiger Shots, it works. Sagat's always been a relentless foe, and now he can elevate that potential by hunting down the last S.T.A.R.S. member in town! There are a bunch of mods for Nemesis, almost as many as there are for Jill, and I plan on delving into more of them when I cover this topic again.
This is but a dip into the Olympic swimming pool that is RE3 mods, and we've only just begun to see the possibilities. When we come back we'll focus on some character mods and really see what people have gotten into the game!
