Tekken 7: Mod Edition
Mods are a magical thing. They increase the lifespan of a game by almost uncountable measures. We've talked here before about how there are different kinds of mods. from characters to voices, and this time, we've got customization! Tekken 7 has a wide variety of mods, and today I thought we'd look at just 5 of them from across the different types. Let's explore the crazy world of Tekken mods.
Josie Becomes Tifa
This mod changes quite a few things! Josie's picture and name on the character select screen are replaced by Tifa, though you'll still need to go and customize her to look like Tifa. Along with that, the announcer stops saying Josie's name, instead calling out Tifa's. The mod goes farther than visual changes too, and Josie's voice, aside from a few places, so this is a wonderful mod to explore since it really affects thiings.
Bob Becomes Big Smoke
It's time to "follow the damn train" with this mod. With a few customization changes, Bob can take on the look and voice of CJ's San Andreas antagonist. It isn't as far reaching as the Tifa mod in terms of the announcer or the picture on the select screen changing, but it's definitely a wild time seeing Big Smoke come up and battle the likes of Nina Williams and Heihachi Mishima. This is one of those mods that does exactly what I love, introducing a hilariously silly idea and making t work brilliantly.
Cute Healthbars
Our first non character mod changes up the game's healthbars! The healthbars change from the orange/yellow bars to pink ones willed with animals. There's not overly much to this mod, but if you're in the practice of trying to completely rearrange the game experience, as I am, it's absolutely a great idea to consider this one. It's a small change, maybe, but it's a small change that honestly does do something to affect the experience in some way.
Windows Azure
A simple stage mod, Windows Azure adds the stone structures jutting out of the watter in the background of the Infinite Azure stage. Windows comes to Tekken in a completely unexpected way with this mod, because now the well known background has become a stage. The idea of changing stages around is always a fun one, and though this one doesn't change much, it's a great experiment to see before jumping into bigger changes for stages. Mods are basically little experiments, and this is a fun one honestly.
Tekken 1 Reborn (HUD)
Our last mod of the day is a complete HUD change. Relive the glory of the original Tekken with this mod that changes several visuals! The lifebars, round win indicators, timer, and the name under the health are all modified here to look just like they did or would have in the original title. This is a fantastic mod for nostalgia seekers or for those who want to feel like experiencing a part of Tekken history without needing to track down the PS1 title. Changes like this one are always fun to see in legacy games like this and now is no exception.
With that, we have reached the end of our list for now! This is just a small sample of he hundreds of mods out there for the game, and some real crazy combos can be found to utilize.I'll talk more about those in another article, and I'll see you next time!
